Here it is! Our table design for the 2010 Tablescapes and Trends event at the City Club Fort Worth.
We designed our table around the growing trend of bringing personal elements into a design....adding a vintage twist with pages from old books and buttons passed down from generations before.  Mixing hand made paper flowers in with fresh flowers gave a unique texture while floral choices added a fresh, modern edge.
The question I get most from brides..."How can I take the things I love and make my wedding unique/unlike anyone elses?" The BEST way is to bring in details that are personal - an old family bible...your grandmothers costume jewels....a cash log used by your grandfather to keep his checkbook (with a little creativity, you can turn it into a guest book!) AND you are totally "green" by using what you already have or reusing items and turning them into something new!
I hope you are inspired...we had such fun with our design this year!

My dear friend - Kelly Norvell of Bridal Blooms and I designed the table in lush
pinks and champagne gold...beautiful pink linen with a sheer embroidered gold overlay / satin edging from Grand Events. Vintage china and chandeliers...gold wire trees dripping in floral bouquets and candlelight.

Come join us at the City Club for this years event! We have a great table in store for you.

Link to more beautiful Nature inspired event decor....think outside the box - What's growing in your backyard? What do the leaves and branches look like on the trees? What kind of elements like acorns or pine cones might be falling to the ground. All of these (free!) elements can be used on a guest table or food table as your decor. Think about layering elements at different heights so your table is not flat...and always add candlelight or lanterns for an evening event. Amazing!

So simple - just a pop of yellow! Yellow can be a cheerful twist for any event - mix it with turquoise, lime green or hot pink for a bright summer table.....or mix it with charcoal and plum for a warm fall table. Either way: yellow is fab!

Transitional Front Door!

Flags to Footballs...CHEERful front door decor!

So - the tiny bit of "Fall" weather we got last week (75 degrees until 10 am!) got me thinking. This is a transitional time of year for my front door wreath. I am a firm believer that "flags" on your front door can last all summer. You have memorial day, then fourth of july...and if you want to count Labor day - you can take your flags all the way into September! But by that time, I feel like Fall.....SO - I have an idea of how you can transition your flag wreath (or in my case, flag bucket) into a fun idea that cheers on your hometown team (and it gets you thru the "hot" season til you can feel right about placing leaves on pumpkins on your door!)
Check out these pictures...I will walk you thru the process!

You can tell here that I started with a bucket of flags! I rolled them up and taped them down because the wooden dowels were still useful to me. I cut out new flags made from leftover construction paper and scrapbook paper.
Then came the sticky letters (available at any craft store or teacher supply). Rah Rah and Let's Go! will work for any team - but you can customize the colors and team name.
I punched 2 holes in the side of each flag and tied them on with ribbon.

Curly ribbon in your color choice adds a nice touch to the flags - just fun and festive! But, really, any ribbon will do! Then, I had my son bring down a small football he didn't use and I pinned it to one of the flags with a pearl pin (any pin or even hot glue will work!)
and...here it is! The finished product. If your door gets a lot of sun during the day, you will probably want to laminate the flags or use felt instead of paper. Football season is around the corner! Go Frogs!!!
